Nennie Lungu
As a Senior Technical Advisor for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), Nennie leads the Malawi EMPOWER strategic information (SI) unit by providing strategic leadership, management, and vision to drive EMPOWER’s monitoring and evaluation agenda to use data for decision making and improve programming. Since the project inception in 2020, he has overseen Malawi EMPOWER’s SI leadership; developed a robust M&E system for the project tracking over 50,000 beneficiaries; lead the project’s report writing, tracked the project’s MER and custom indicators; facilitates tools development and M&E capacity building for local implementing partners; conducts rigorous data analysis; and led the development of abstracts under the projects learning agenda.
Nennie is a research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning expert who has an immense skill set in impact design, data collection, mobile technology, analysis, and reporting. He has worked on several international development programs and partnerships related to adolescent health, nutrition, OVC, education and public health in Malawi.
Prior to joining FHI360, Nennie worked with John Hopkins University – Center for Communication (JHU-CCP) programs as the Research, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (RMEL) Manager under the One Community USAID – PEPFAR funded project from 2016 to 2020. As the RMEL Manager, he led the development of a real time data collection system for the project which was responsive to donor needs and requirements tracking over 112,000 beneficiaries. Before joining JHU-CCP, Nennie spent three years at Save the Children International as a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Specialist.
